I find this confusing. I have the World Account for Ancestry and a Newspaper.com account. What is All Access, and if I use the link, will I see these extra newspapers? And how does one know which are "extra" newspapers?

Hi Lisa,

I found it confusing too. All Access Ancestry subscription entails receiving Ancestry world, fold3 and Newspapers.com for $400 a year. The Newspapers part of it is for the basic collection - the newspapers out of copyright (i.e. before 1924).

So this freebie for All Access Ancestry subscribers adds the Publishers Extra collection - the papers after 1924 to the present.

If you already subscribe to Newspapers.com with the Publishers Extra subscription, then you get no added benefit for a limited time. If you have the Basic Newspapers subscription, but not the All Access, then you get no added benefit for a limited time.

Confusing? Yep.

So one must already be a subscriber in order to search "free"?

John,

Yes, one must be an All Access Ancestry subscriber to search the Publisher Extra newspaper collection (after 1924 newspapers). The All Access subscription covers the Basic newspaper collection (before 1924).

I guess the hope is that you'll find so much in the Extra collection that you will spring for the additional subscription to it once the freebie is over.

That's the way it is -- Randy

I found this confusing and when searching for answers, I actually had to go to forums to find the answer. Ancestry is deceiving on this part.I just wanted to access obituaries which were locked. Everything I clicked on required me to upgrade newspaper.com and I paid for All Access. I registered with all 3 accounts. It still wanted me to upgrade to access anthing.

I down graded Ancestry and will go to my local libraries for now I guess.

I agree, all access newspapers should be "all access". Very difficult to figure out why I couldn't get an obituary. I found this deceiving by Ancestry. They should specify the limitations to "All Access".

Ancestry is very deceiving on access to newspapers.com.
