Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 10 February 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society board meeting on Wednesday  and reported on the monthly newsletter, Research Group meeting and DNA Interest Group meeting.  Wrote, edited and published the February 2020 issue of the CVGS Family History Gazette newsletter.

2)  Attended the SDGS program meeting with speaker Laurice Johnson from Temecula.  In her first talk, she discussed "Facebook! and Websites! And Blogs!  Oh My!" highlighting many opportunities for information and research tips.  I left before her second talk about FamilySearch because I was tired.

3)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt with Pat Richley-Erickson.  We discussed Dave's SAR and NERGC; Liv's DNA issue of family secrets; John's DNA match of 130 cM and what relationship it might be;  Myrt highlighted Robin Wirthlin's two DNA process charts; Robbin discussed the use of challenging dinners to expose white privilege and hidden racial feelings; I talked about the RootsTech mobile app has the syllabus articles available, and using MyHeritage Record Matches.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #527 Sarah (Shepard)  Goble (1658-1746) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

6)  Added Notes to about 10 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added one ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 34,317 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 22).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 56,114 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 10) , and 115,948 source citations (up 285).   I TreeShared once this week updating 50 profiles, and I resolved 402 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 123,877 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

9)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were press releases.  The most popular post last week was 52 Ancestors - Week 316: #527 Sarah (Shepard) Goble (1658-1746) of Concord, Massachusetts with over 348 views.

10)  Spent 4 hours at the local Emergency Room on Saturday after Linda fell and hit her head at home.  No fun that.  Had family fun on Sunday in Huntington Beach attending granddaughter Lauren's performance as Lord Farquaard in Shrek at the Boys and Girls Clubhouse.  She is a gifted actress.  We had dinner at Tami's home and were home by 8 p.m.
