Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Do You Have a Mary Smith?

It's Saturday Night -

time for more Genealogy Fun!

Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible music here) is to:

1)  How many persons named JMary Smith do you have in your genealogy management program or online family tree?  How many persons named Mary Smith are ancestors?

2)  Pick out one of those persons named Mary Smith and do some online research for them in Ancestry, FamilySearch, or another set of record collections.  Your goal is to add something to your database.

3)  Tell us about it in your own blog post, in a comment to this blog post, or in a post on Facebook.

Here's mine:

1)  I have 54 persons named Mary * Smith in my RootsMagic database.  Four of them are ancestors, and all were born between 1624 and 1805.

2)  I chose Mary Smith (1698-after 1746), who married Ebenezer Phillips (1695-1746) in about 1717  in Malden, Massachusetts, and they had six children born in Wakefield, Charlestown and Stoneham recorded in the town Vital Records.  Mary Smith was the daughter of John and Ruth (Cutler) Smith of Charlestown.  Her father died in 1706 before she married, and her mother married again in 1706; neither left a probate record.  I have no death record for Mary (Smith) Phillips of Charlestown.

Many of the Ancestry Record Hints for Mary, wife of Ebenezer Phillips, are for Mary Lyon of Roxbury who married another Ebenezer Phillips in 1719 in Roxbury and died and was buried in 1763 in Woodstock, Connecticut.

I found no new records for Mary (Smith) Phillips in a search on Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Findmypast, or American Ancestors.

I only have one, and she was not born Mary Smith; but married someone named Smith.

* Mary Ann Wray (age 18 -) married William Smith (age 28 -) on 24-Dec-1870

Well, I researched but did not find anything new. Wish I could find out what happened to her. https://mytrailsintothepast.blogspot.com/2020/03/saturday-night-genealogy-fun-do-you.html

I was quite surprised to find that I had a Mary Smith in my family tree, and I did find a record for her.

I have no Smiths among my direct ancestors, so I was also surprised to learn I had a Mary (Wolcott) who married Herbert Charles Smith and became Mary Ima Smith. (My tree has just a bit over 7,000 entries.) A search of Family Search revealed that they were married on 5 April 1915 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N3P9-Q7J
