Use MyHeritage Family Photos To Make Stunning Wall Art with Mixtiles

 The MyHeritage Blog posted New: Turn Your MyHeritage Family Photos into Stunning Wall Art today and I experimented with it over the weekend, and want to share my experience.

Here is a short video of the process from MyHeritage:

MyHeritage has contracted with Mixtiles to print 8x8 (inches) photo tiles that can stick and restick to your wall without using hammer and nails.  

I have many black and white photographs in my family history collection, and used the MyHeritage Photo Colorizer and Photo Enhancer to "improve" them and bring them to life.  However, you can use any photograph - black and white, or color.

For this experiment, I wanted to colorize and enhance the photographs of the people who "made me me" - the parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and even one set of 2nd great-grandparents for whom I have wedding photographs.  My plan is to put these six photographs on the guest bedroom wall.

After colorizing and enhancing the photographs, I started the process of submitting them to Mixtiles.  Here was my process:

1)  On my MyHeritage Photos page (Family tree > Photos), I clicked on the photos I wanted to use )below with an orange check mark).  I picked 6 photos: 

2)  After selecting the six photos, I clicked on the "Print as wall art" button at the top of the screen above, and saw:

There were my six photographs, but they are not centered or zoomed appropriately.

3)  I clicked on the "Continue" button at the top of the screen above, and saw:

4)  Here are the six photos and I need to adjust each of them - Zoom in and position.  Also, I chose the "Edge" scheme for the edges of the photos on the screen below.  

5)  For each photograph, I clicked on the photograph and each one opened with the ability to Adjust the photo.  The Zoom bar is below the photograph, and I can drag the photo to place it where I want it, as I've done with the 4th photo on the screen above:

After adjusting each photo, here are my six photographs that I want to submit to Mixtiles:

Who are the "people who made me me" in the photos above?  I chose photos of my ancestral couples at about the time they married.

*  Henry Austin and Della (Smith) Carringer, my maternal great-grandparents, married 1887.

*  Devier and Abbie (Vaux) Smith - my maternal 2nd great-grandparents, married 1861.

*  Lyle and Emily (Auble) Carringer - my maternal grandparents, married 1918.

*  Randy and Linda (Leland) Seaver - us! married 1970.

*  Frederick W. and Alma Bessie (Richmond) Seaver - my paternal grandparents, married 1900.

*  Frederick W. and Betty V. (Carringer) Seaver - my parents, married 1942.

Of course, I can place them on the wall in any arrangement I choose.

Unfortunately, I don't have photographs of three sets of great-grandparents or the other seven sets of 2nd great-grandparents.  I do have individual photos of some of them and will try to make digital images of them at a later time.

6)  I'm ready to "Checkout" so I clicked on that button, and the Checkout screen appeared:

The retail price for 6 tiles is $72 plus tax, so $12 each.  On the screen above is a 35% promo code, so my cost would be $50.89 for 6 wall art tiles.

This process was very simple once I had the colorized and enhanced photographs.  

Of course, anyone can use Mixtiles to upload digital photographs to the website and obtain the wall art for a price.
