Carringers in the News -- Lyle L. Carringer Dies in San Diego in 1976

It's time for another edition of "Carringers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Carringer (my mother's maiden surname) that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the San Diego [Calif.] Union newspaper dated 11 November 1976:

The transcription of the article is:

Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976)  was born 2 November 1891in San Diego, California, the son of Henry Austin and Abbey Ardell (Smith) Carringer.  He married Emily Kemp Auble (1899-1977) on 19 June 1918 in San Diego, California.  Their only child was Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002), who married Frederick Walton Seaver Jr. (1911-1983) on 14 June 1942.  They had three sons.

Lyle and Emily are my beloved maternal grandparents - the only grandparents I saw throughout my life until they passed away.  This article honors Lyle with a few highlights of his life - I wish it had more!

There are hundreds of Carringer "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them. Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a newspaper obituary is too short and sweet.  I am glad that I can honor my grandfather Lyle Lawrence Carringer, today.

You never know when a descendant, relative or friend will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
