Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 28 February 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Zoom, with about 61 in attendance.  The speaker was Cheri Hudson Passey on "Analyzing Probate Records."

2) Transcribed a deed record in 1756 Deed of Land in Southborough, Massachusetts by Ward and Rice Relatives to Ruth Ward for Amanuensis Monday.

3) Published a genealogy biography of  #304 Nathan Brigham (1693-1784) of Marlborough and Southborough, Massachusetts for the 52 Ancestors theme.

4)  Relatives At RootsTech has been live for over a week, and I checked dozens of potential relationships using it, mainly from Facebook Friends.  My closest relatives are now a first cousin 1x removed, and a second cousin 1x removed.

5) AncestryDNA now has 39,326 DNA matches (up 99) this past week, and there were no new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,095 DNA matches (down 275), with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 2 AncestryDNA matches and added no ThruLines to RootsMagic.

6)  My RootsMagic database is still connected to the Ancestry Member Tree, but TreeShare shows over 40,000 profiles that need to be resolved - because TreeShare did not upload 144,000 sources to the new Ancestry tree in October.  They (RM? Ancestry?) finally fixed the code, but now I will have to upload my current RootsMagic tree to a new Ancestry tree to minimize the work.  I'm waiting for a long period of available time to do this.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,342 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 36).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 68,977 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 137 from last week), and 144,290 source citations (up 26). I TreeShared 82 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 893 Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 23,957 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Rabbit Holes With Randy - Working With Family Tree Analyzer with over 287 views.

10) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 102 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time.  I  visited Tami's family in Huntington Beach on Sunday, and attended Lauren's play.   I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. I watched the Ukraine news  occasionally.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and no yard work.
