U.S. Census Records Summary on WorldVitalRecords.com

I've been updating my lists of websites with access to census records, and have found that the WorldVitalRecords site (www.worldvitalrecords.com) has all of the United States Census records, but they do not provide access to all of the census images.

Here's the list as of today:

1940 U.S. Census - all page images, and searchable for part of Rhode Island and New York.

1930 U.S. Census - searchable index, family unit listed, all page images on Fold3.com ($$)

1930 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1920 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1910 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1900 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1880 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1870 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1860 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1860 U.S. Census - searchable index, family unit listed, all page images on Fold3.com ($$)

1850 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1840 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1830 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1820 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1810 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1800 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

1790 U.S. Census Reels - no searchable index, page images browsable.

In summary, WorldVitalRecords.com has page images available for FREE only for the 1940 U.S. Census.  The census images for 1860 and 1930 are available if the user has a Fold3 subscription, but an index is available for these two years.  All of the census records 1790-1880 and 1900-1930 can be browsed using waypointing for microfilm reels of each State and County.

This means that searches on www.worldVitalRecords.com and www.MyHeritage.com will return matches only for the indexed U.S. census years of 1940 (partial), 1930, and 1860.

Disclosure:  I have received gifts from MyHeritage and WorldVitalRecords.com in the past, I currently have a complimentary World Subscription to the site.

Thanks for pointing out exactly which years have images available for free. This will make it easier for people who use the site to find information on their relatives.

There are several options available for people who want to learn more about their family tree.

Hopefully more and more people can access these resources and have a greater sense of how people in their family lived and the things that they did. This is always important as it gives individuals a better sense of the connections they have and the history of their own family.
