It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the Passenger List record for James Richman in 1855 arriving in New York:
The top of this particular passenger list for the Ship Calhoun, Daniel H. Truman master, which sailed from Liverpool and arrived in New York on 22 October 1855, is:

The information for James Richman on this record is:

It appears that James Richman was accompanied by a Saml Richman (age 22, and engineer). This is probably Samuel Rich, the youngest son of John and Rebecca (Hill) rich of Hilperton, Wiltshire. James Richman's wife was Hannah Rich, daughter of John and Rebecca (Hill) rich, and Samuel's sister.

James Richman was only 24 years old when he emigrated from Wiltshire. His wife and children arrived a year later on another ship and joined him in Rhode Island where he worked in a woolen mill.
