Randy at 16 - Party! Birthday Cake! -- Post 345 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I'm posting old family photographs from my collection on Wednesdays, but they won't be wordless posts like others do - I simply am incapable of having a wordless post.

Here is one of the most precious (to me) images from my Seaver/Carringer family collection:

This photograph was taken, probably b y my mother or father, in October 1959 on the occasion of my 16th birthday.  The candles are lit, and at least three people in the picture are concentrating on blowing out the candles.

The persons in the photograph are (from left):

*  Randy Seaver, all ready to blow out the conflagration.  Check out the hairdo - a semi-flattop.
*  Lyle L. Carringer (1891-1976), my maternal grandfather, who was really into helping blow out the candles.  He wore his bowtie for the occasion.
*  my brother Scott, at age 4, thinking about blowing out the candles (maybe all he really wants is the cake)
*  Emily (Auble) Carringer (1899-1977), my maternal grandmother, who baked the cake and looks really spiffy in her nice dress and pearl necklace, posing for the camera
*  my brother Stan, at age 13, looking at the camera and saying "Cheese."  I have no clue what he's thinking...

This photograph was taken in the dining room at our home at 2119 30th Street in San Diego.  I recognize the book shelves behind my grandparents, which held the precious-to-me World Book Encyclopedia volumes and many more books.
