Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 263: 1798 Pennsylvania Direct Tax List for Rudolf Spangler in York, Penn.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the  1798 Direct Tax List of Pennsylvania for Rudolf Spangler in York, York County, Pennsylvania:

I am confused by the Occupant and Owner columns.  This record apparently says that George King resided on a number of properties owned by several different persons, including a number of dwelling houses.  There are many pages with this same phenomenon - an occupant on several properties.

There were 22 indexed entries for Rudolf (or Rudolph) Spangler in this database, all in York County.  Some of them were Rudolph Spangler, Jr. and some were for Rudolph Spangler Sr.  I think my ancestor is Rudolph Spangler (1738-1811) is the senior Rudolph.

I looked at all of the entries for the entries with or without a Senior indicator.  There were no entries where Rudolph Spangler was an Occupant - but there were several where he was an Owner.

Rudolph Spangler (1738-1811) is my 4th great-grandfather, who married Maria Dorothea Dinkel (1748-1835) in 1767, and resided in York, York County, Pennsylvania.  They had 11 children, including my 3rd great-grandfather, Daniel Spangler (1781-1851).

If a reader has more insight into these records, I would appreciate learning about it.
