On the Sydney Waterfront -- Post 405 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I'm posting old (and sometimes new) family photographs from my collection on Wednesdays, but they won't be wordless posts like others do - I am incapable of having a wordless post.

Here are some of the most precious (to me) images from my Seaver/Leland photograph collection:

In March 2010, we visited Australia, New Zealand and Fiji on a three week Grand Circle Travel Tour to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and I took some photographs with my trusty digital camera.

1)  We made it to Sydney from Cairns on Thursday, and stayed at the Mercure hotel on George Street. We bused down to the waterfront for dinner on the wharf at Nick's:

2)  Linda had a colorful drink:

3)  On Friday, we took a bus tour of Sydney, getting off at different tourist spots.  This picture is from Mrs. McQuarrie's Chair park with a view of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Bridge:

Unfortunately, I've lost the memories of all the details of this vacation.  Fortunately, I found my Facebook photo albums from our 2010 vacation with pictures and some captions so all is not lost.  I found that I posted very few photos from this vacation on Genea-Musings.

Randy: I was disturbed to read you saying that you've "lost the memories of all the details of this vacation". I hope those aren't your own memories and pictures, but are *only* the ephemera about it. If nothing else, this post of yours will help preserve some of them.

Hi Louis,

sorry the comment is fairly obtuse - I don't recall the names of the people, what we ate, what type of transportation we took, how long it took, etc. I remember where we went, can name most of the locations, band the order of the places, but the details are lost to me. If I hadn't put comments on the photo album on Facebook, I would be helpless now to know what we did in each location. I did a pretty good job of taking photos and adding captions, thank goodness!

I don't mean to imply that I have dementia (yet!) but it's not unusual for me to not be able to recall the details after a year or two. This is 6 years back.

Thanks Randy. That's quite understandable, and I'm also very prone to forgetting everything unless it's recorded. The new just keeps replacing the old.

By the way, I thought your post today on the FHISO mailing list was right-on! Especially your remark about the amount of debate going on over the simplest citation. I could sure go for an element-1 .. element-n system.
