Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 8 to 14 October 2017

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Along the Pilgrim Trail ~ Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England; ~ Harwich, Essex, England by Heather Wilkinson Rojo on the Nutfield Genealogy blog.

When Your Original Record isn't an Original Record by Michele Lewis on the Legacy News blog.

*  An “Easter Egg” in Some Pittsburgh Church Records by Lois Mackin on the Lois Abromitis Mackin Ph.D. blog.

What To Do When There is No Rio in Ancestry.com by Michael John Neill on the Rootdig.com blog.

*  Hint: Using Those Film Numbers Found in FamilySearch Citations by Nancy on the My Ancestors And Me blog.

*     English and Welsh GRO PDF certificate service trial returns by Chris Paton on The GENES Blog.

Banned in Boston by Scott C. Steward on the Vita Brevis blog.

*  My Favorite Genealogy Conferences with DNA by Kitty Cooper on Kitty Cooper's Blog.

*  Free genealogy is alive and well by Nancy Hendrickson on the Ancestor News blog.

GCGS Days 1 and 2 by Louis Kessler on Louis Kessler's Behold Genealogy blog.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday Fossicking - 13th October 2017 by Crissouli on the That Moment In Time blog.

*  High Fives - October 13, 2017 by Dianne Nolin on the Genealogy: Beyond the BMD blog.

*  Friday Finds, Week 41 - 2017 by Martin Roe Eidhammer on the Norwegian Genealogy and then some blog.

*  Friday Finds, 13 October 2017 by Lois Willis on the Lois Willis - Genealogy and Family History blog.

Friday Finds 13 Oct 2017 by Nichelle Barra on the Copper Leaf Genealogy blog.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- October 14, 2017 by Gail Dever on the Genealogy a la Carte blog.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1600 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thanks for listing my "Pilgrim Trail" blog post about Gainsborough, England on your list this week. I'm having fun re-living my trip through my writing. Lots more posts about some of the churches where Pilgrims were baptized coming up this week!
