Best of the Genea-Blogs -- 2 to 8 September 2018

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Labor Day: Four Generations of Duck Farmers by Debby Warner Anderson on Debby's Family Genealogy Blog.

*  An Ancestor Profile vs. A Family History Narrative by Lynn Palermo on the Family History Writing Studio blog.

An Unstated Reason For Exhaustive Searches by Michael John Neill on the Rootdig blog.

Database Sizes -- September 2018 Update by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek blog.

Ancestor Birthdays Mean Presents For YOU! by Roberta Estes on the DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy blog.

In the Parish Chest: Apprenticeship Records by Sue McNelly on the Kindred Past blog.

The Archive Lady: Musty Smelling Old Books by Melissa Barker on the Abundant Genealogy blog.

Learning Something New: The Nuncupative Will by Diana Elder on the Family Locket blog.

*  Case Studies in American Migration: Part Four: Pushing West to the Ohio by James Tanner on the Genealogy's Star blog.

*  How I Solved It: Brick Walls Post #2 – Robert L. Bowden 1863-1906 by Diane Gould Hall on the RootsFinder Blog.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.

Friday Finds: Week 36 - 2018 by Martin Roe Eidhammer on the Norwegian Genealogy ... and then some blog.
*  Friday Fossicking, 7th September 2018 by Crissouli on the That Moment in Time blog.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- September 8, 2018 by Gail Dever on the Genealogy a la Carte blog.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thanks for this post I plan on checking out what others are doing on their blogs. I started mine in November 2017. Here's a post that is typical of what I do, which is take a piece of family lore and back it up with research.

Thanks so much for the mention Randy. Debby Warner Anderson and I are good friends and excited to be named on the same week. We are smiling.
