Monday Genea-Pourri - 20 May 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group on Wednesday with 11 in attendance.  Discussed my Ancestry ThruLines practices, my revised 23andMe ethnicity estimate, the GEDmatch opt-out issue, and DNA Painter shared cM tool and chromosome mapping.  In the second hour, several attendees discussed their DNA results and challenges.

2)  Helped three email correspondents with Seaver information - one was for a probate issue for a deceased Seaver.  Also helped two readers with questions about Pennsylvania Tax and Exoneration records and Stephen Hopkins wife's name.

3)  Transcribed the 1847 deed of 3rd great-grandfather Zachariah Hildreth selling land in Townsend, Mass. to his son, James Hildreth for Amanuensis Monday.

4)  Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandmother #455 Maria Margaretha (--?--) Nachbar (1698-1770) of Germany and New Jersey for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

5)  Watched two Family Tree Webinars - MyHeritage New Features and Technologies by Daniel Horowitz, and Land Entries at the National Archives - Part I by Rick Sayre.

6)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt on Zoom (which will go on YouTube later).  Today's webinar discussed the GEDmatch opt-in announcement for law enforcement access to DNA matches, Norway's Consitution Day, the added hours at the Family History Library, the MyHeritage Health announcement, Myrt's ideas for sharing family stories, Kitty Cooper's blog post about her grandfather, and the Genealogy Squad on Facebook.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and other ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 30,993 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

8)  I continue to use Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 53,645 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 104,742 source citations.   I TreeShared once this week updating 301 profiles, and I resolved about 522 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 109,991 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

9) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which four were press releases.  The most popular post last week was
Family Tree Maker 2019 Pre-Order Sale for Three Days  with over 5323 views.
