Included in the photo album, created by Bessie (Auble) Pentecost in about 1930, was this intriguing photo:
This photograph is of my mother, Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002), probably at age 3 or 4, but perhaps as late as 5 or 6 (so 1922 to 1925). I have dated other photos of her with this haircut as age 3. This may be at Easter or Christmas time because she is dressed up in a dress, a hair bow, and polished shoes.
The setting is the lush Carringer berry patches on the properties at 2115 30th Street (her grandparents house) and 2130 Fern Street (her parents house). These berries are red in color and mushy (as I recall. I didn't like to eat them) and the small leaves are dark green. I don't think the bushes have thorns.
Several years ago, while doing Auble research, a descendant of Will and Bessie (Auble) Pentecost contacted me and offered the album to me, telling me that it had many photographs of the family of my grandparents (Lyle and Emily (Auble) Carringer). I have kept the album intact in case she ever wants it back, but have digitized many of the photos of my Carringer and Auble families.
Unfortunately, there were no photographs of the parents of Charles Auble, David and Sarah (Knapp) Auble of Terre Haute, Indiana.
