Monday Genea-Pourri - 3 June 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2019 conference in Burbank, California over the weekend.  We arrived on Thursday afternoon, and returned Sunday evening.  I attended 7 classes (out of 16 time slots) and roamed the exhibit hall every day talking to  vendors about their products.  My best experience was the preview of RootsMagic Version 8 - I have some idea of what to expect now.  The best time is talking to genealogy friends about their family, their research and their work.  I wrote posts summarizing my activities for each day.  We saw our daughter and her family on Sunday night for some family history.

2)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society program meeting on Wednesday.  The speaker was Webmaster Gary Brock, who presented "Places" with over 200 photos of his travel to Europe in October 2018, plus his wife's royal and noble European genealogy.  He will present the second part of this later this year.

3)  Transcribed the 1852 deed of 3rd great-grandfather Zachariah Hildreth selling land in Townsend, Mass. to his son, Milo Hildreth for Amanuensis Monday.

4)  Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandmother #473 Mercy (Kelsey) Cutter (1698-1760) of Woodbridge, New Jersey  for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

5)  Worked once on my July presentation on Top 10 Genealogy Search Tips.  Added about 10 slides this week.  About 70% done now.  It's slow going.

6)  Watched one  Family Tree Webinar - Misbegotten Children: Tracing the Family Lines of the Illegitimate, by Peggy Clemens Lauritzen.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and other ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 31,153 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

8)  I continue to use Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 53,700 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 105,121 source citations.   I TreeShared once this week updating 114 profiles, and I didn't resolve any Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 111,089 to be resolved, but I try to work on them weekly.

9) Wrote 22 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which one was a press release.  The most popular post last week was
My Day 1 at SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2019
with over 321 views.
