Treasure Chest Thursday - 1703 Dutch Reformed Church Baptism of Jacobus Van Vorst in Schenectady, New York

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1703 baptism record of Jacobus Van Vorst in the Schenectady, New York Dutch Reformed Church records:

The Jacobus Van Vorst baptism record is the 5th one down the page:

The extracted data on this record is:

*  Parents: Jelles Van Vorst and Lysebet Van Neps

*  Name of the Child:  Jacobus

*  Witnesses:  Dirk Bratt and Maria Van Neps

The source citation for this record is:

"U.S. Dutch Reformed Church Records from Selected States, 1639-1989," digital images, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com), New York > Schenectady > "Schenectady Baptisms," Volume 1, Book 41, typescript, page 16 (mage 22 of 163), Jacobus Van Vorst entry.

Jacobus Jillise Van Vorst (1703-1797?) was baptized 12 December 1703 in Schenectady's Dutch Reformed Church, the third child and third son of Jillis Jacobse Van Vorst and Elizabeth Janse Van Eps.  He married (1) Anna Beck (1704-1749), and they had nine children.  He married (2) Sarah Fonda (1713-????) in 1750.

Jacobus and Anna (Beck) Van Vorst are my 6th great-grandparents, through their daughter Anna Van Vorst (1732-1789) who married (2) John Kemp (1723-1795) in about 1758.
