Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 1 December 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Wednesday, which was the annual "Show and Tell" meeting with the subject of "Most Unusual or Mysterious Heirloom."  I took my grandmother's pot/urn/container to share - I don't know what it is - perhaps a chamber pot, a candle holder, an urn, a garden pot?  It's ceramic, about 12 inches high and 8 inches in diameter, and heavy, with a fitted top piece, with her "return address" sticker on the bottom.  It had a "Ball Special" mason jar inside the pot.

2)  Participated in Mondays With Myrt today.  The panel discussed family food traditions, making ancestor books, Mayflower ancestors, USCIS fees, naturalization records, Family Tree Maker citations, RootsTech 2020 contests, DNA clusters, adoptions, and more.  I contributed to the DNA discussion.

3)  Watched one Virtual Genealogical Association video -  Friedrich Eiler, Building Identity From Scant Clues, by Jill Morelli (behind VGA paywall).

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #517 Mary (Bigelow) Read (1677-1708) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed a 1787 deed of  5th great-grandfather Simon Gates quitclaiming land in Princeton, Massachusetts To Nathan Miles for Amanuensis Monday.

6)  Found some more Italian civil records of my grandsons' Italian Sturla line in Genova state in Italy.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 33,633 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 55,450 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 112,706 source citations.   I TreeShared twice this week updating 151 profiles, and I resolved 421 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 121,595 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

9)  Checked out the Shared Clustering program for AncestryDNA matches, and added more Notes to my DNA matches.

10)  Visited Tami's family for Thanksgiving and Linda's birthday on Saturday - had fun just being with them!

11) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were press releases.  The most popular post last week was Finding 1838-1859 Italian Records for My Grandsons' Ancestors  with over 269 views.
