Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 6 April 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Hosted two Zoom meetings with Chula Vista Genealogical Society members, mainly to get experience and give more members experience with using it.  We had 10 of us today for an hour talking about how to use Zoom, how we're doing, and about how the society can use Zoom.  The plan is to use Zoom for our Research Group on 4/8, our DNA group on 4/15, and our program meeting on 4/29.

2)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt on Zoom.  We discussed FamilySearch inexing, online access to Archives, how we are doing, problems with Zoom, the WikiTree Data Doctor feature, the Archive Lady and Best of the Genea-blogs.  Also visited Mini-Myrt Zoom meetings every day except Sunday for 20 minutes of checking in.

3)  Wrote, edited and published the monthly Chula Vista Genealogical Society newsletter with information about how to use Zoom for meetings, in addition to the regular features.
4)  Watched the Betty Jeans Story - Forensic Genealogy, DNA and Adoption webinar on Family Tree Webinars by Mags Gaulden.

5)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #535  Ruth (Walker) Wood (1602-1752) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

6)  Transcribed the 1774 real estate appraisal of Moses Brigham (1722-1769) of Westborough, Mass.  for Amanuensis Monday.

7)  Added Notes to about 15 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added two AncestryDNA ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  Worked on my Whittle correspondent's line from Lancashire to Canada all week, adding more names, events, dates, places, notes and sources to her family line.

9) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 35,044 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 161).

10)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 56,805 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 122) , and 118,561 source citations (up 509).   I TreeShared two times this week updating 297 profiles, and I resolved 603 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 127,652 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

11)  Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which four were a press release.  The most popular post last week was New TV Show "Roots Less Traveled" Starts on Saturday, 4 April with over 418 views.

12)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much.  I went to the grocery store on Tuesday and Saturday, taking advantage of the early hours for seniors.  I watched the church choir and pastor's sermon on YouTube on Sunday.  The other half of the back yard "lawn" was mowed on Friday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer and wash my hands a lot.
