Seavers in the News -- Jennie H. Seaver Dies in Akron, Ohio in 1949

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Akron [Ohio] Beacon Journal newspaper dated 4 June 1949:

The transcription of the article is:

The source citation is:

"Seaver,The Akron [Ohio] Beacon Journal newspaper, death notice, Saturday, 4 June 1949, page 13, column 6, Jennie H.  Seaver death notice;  Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 11 March 2021).

This obituary provides a death date and place, an age, names of her children and siblings, and not much else.  Fortunately, the surname of her four siblings was provided.  There is no mention of a spouse, living or deceased, and nothing about Jennie's life.  I had Jennie's birth and marriage information but not her death date and location.

Jennie Hannah Hites was born 7 June 1876 in Holmesville, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas P. and Mary  Rebecca (Hadley) Hites.  She married Orrin Dalson Seaver (1875-1955) on 28 April 1897 in Akron, Ohio.  He was the son of Christopher Albert and Susan A. (Schafer) Seaver.  They had three children:

*  Neva Gertrude Seaver (1897-1983), married 1918 Kenneth Stanley Jobes (1896-1972)
*  Earl Franklin Seaver (1899-1980), married 1920 Augusta Wilhelmina Kramer (1900-1989).
*  Darma Ruth Seaver (1906-1993), married 1929 Vincent E. McCormish (1903-2000).

Orrin and Jennie (Hites) Seaver probably divorced before 1918 when Orrin Dalson Seaver married Clara Spristersbach in Summit County, Ohio.

I am probably not related to Orrin Dalson Seaver or their children.  Orrin was a grandson of Christian and Lydia (Kissinger) Seaver of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Start County, Ohio.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a short obituary or death notice that provides little information. I am glad that I can honor Jennie Hannah (Hites) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
