Seavers in the News - Mrs. Iva B. Seaver Dies in Unity, Maine in 1955

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Bangor [Maine] Daily News newspaper dated 29 June 1955:

The transcription of the article is:

Iva Belle Stone (1894-1955) was born on 2 June 1894 in Troy, Waldo County, Maine, the daughter of Israel and Abbie (Carlton) Stone.  She died 27 June 1955 in Unity, Maine.  She married Irvin Heber Seaver (1891-1941) on 21 September 1913 in Waldo County, Maine.  They had  seven children:

*  Edith Seaver (1914-1940).
*  Bernice G. Seaver (1918-1989), married 1934 Willis E. Howe (1912-2005).
*  Beatrice Goldia Seaver (1919-1973), married Paul Emil Beauchemin (1914-2000).
*  Reta Belle Seaver (1925-1990), married (1) 1941 Merton A Bennett (1919-1985); (2) 1946 William D. Sanborn (1927-1987); (3) 1965 Lorrie N. Gerry (1936-2012).

*  George I. Seaver (1930-1978), married Mary E. Garnett (1928-2010).

I am an 8th cousin two times removed to Heber Irvin Seaver.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683) of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a large family and a sparse obituary I am glad that I can honor Iva B. (Stone) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
