Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1683 Marriage of Andrew Phillips and Sarah Smith in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1683 marriage entry for Andrew Phillips and Sarah Smith in the Charlestown, Massachusetts town records book:

The birth entry is the second item from the bottom of  the right-hand page:

The transcription of this record is:

"\Andrew Phillips & Sarah Smith of Malden, joyned
in covenant of Marriage before Samuel Nowell Esq'r
Assist'd the 11'th of Novemb'r     1683"

The source citation for this record is:

"Massachusetts, Town Clerk, Vital and Town Records, 1620-1988," database with digital images, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com :  accessed 23 July 2013), Charlestown > Archives Births Marriages Deaths > 1629-1800, Marriages, page 381 (image 250 of 385), Andrew Phillips and Sarah Smith entry, 11 November 1683.

This is an entry in a copy of an original town record book for Lynn, Massachusetts.  It is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of this marriage.

Andrew Phillips (1661-1717) was born in 1661 in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (--?--) Phillips of Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay.  He married Sarah Smith on 11 November 1683 in Charlestown.  Sarah Smith (1661-????) was the daughter of Michael and Jane (--?--) Smith of Malden, Massachusetts Bay.

Andrew and Sarah (Smith) Phillips are my 7th great-grandparents through their son Ebenezer Phillips  (1695-1746 who married Mary Smith (1698-1746) in about 1717 in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay.
