Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Poughkeepsie [N.Y.] Journal newspaper dated 29 September 1964:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary mainly includes the family members of  Harold R. Seaver, including the names of his parents, spouse and children.  It mentions his former residence and occupation, but no social affiliations.

Harold Robert Seaver was born 23 March 1890 in Williamstown, Vermont, the son of Forrest Clinton and Eva Estella (Metcalf) Seaver.  He died 29 September 1964 in Rhinebeck, New York.  He married (1) Alice Emma Hill (1889-1956) on 8 May 1912, and they had two children:

*  Hilliard Glenn Seaver (1914-2010), married 1937 Harriet Elaine Hall (1914-2015).
*  Barbara Mildred Seaver (1924-2004), married 1949 Vardon Craig Ryder (1921-2004).

Harold R. Seaver married (2) Evelyn Augusta Cook (1905-1973) on 4 July 1938, and they had no children.

Harold Robert Seaver (1887-1978) is an 8th cousin 2 times removed of mine.  Our most recent common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary mentions some relatives. I am glad that I can honor Harold Robert Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
