Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 27 June 2022

As many readers know, I went in for an angiogram on 26 May, and had a quadruple coronary artery bypass graft operation on 30 May.  I came home the night of 7 June, so I have another 3-5 weeks of recovery to go.  My time on the desktop computer has been limited.

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past four weeks.

1)  Watched several YouTube videos and also a Family Tree Webinar - Negative Evidence: Making Something Out of Nothing by Denise E. Cross.

2)  Published a genealogy biography in  for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandmother   #705 Elizabeth (Cadman) White (c1685-c1780) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

3) Transcribed a probate record document - 1865 Will of Elizabeth Seaver in Middlesex County, Massachusetts - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

4)  After getting home from the hospital, I made a GEDCOM for descendants of 4th great-grandfather John Kemp (1768-1864) and uploaded it to WikiTree.  I then had to match the profiles in the GEDCOM with profiles already in WikiTree.  I am in the process of ADDing those profiles not previously in WikiTree.  It is slow going because you have to have at least one source citation in the profile to add the profile to WikiTree.  About 10% of the profiles had no sources, so I have to search to find a source and add it to the WikiTree profile.

5) AncestryDNA now has 40,405 DNA matches (up 43 from 20 June) for me today, with one new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,471 DNA matches (up 13 from 20 June) for me, with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 5 AncestryDNA matches and added no new ThruLines to RootsMagic.

6)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,097 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 31).

7) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,663 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 11 from 20 June), and 145,080 source citations (up 56). I TreeShared no new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 575  Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 25,337 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

8) Wrote 13 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Paternal Grandfather's Matrilineal Line with over 180 views.

9)  This is week 120 since COVID restrictions.  Since I've been home, I have had nurses visit me six times and physical therapy five times, and these visits will continue. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her two times last week.  I went shopping on Friday.  I am still really tired every day, take at least two naps each day, and try to walk for 30 minutes every day on the block.   I was told to get off the desktop computer and spend more time in my recliner to get my feet off the ground.  I watched the Padres games every day  and we are now 45-30 on the season (4-3 last week). I can't drive for another 3-5 weeks, and have upcoming doctor, nurse and therapy appointments.  Friends are driving me to go to the doctor appointments and Linda's facility.

For limited time on your computer, you certainly get lots done. Hope your recovery is going well.
