Rosilla Seaver (1806-1825) was born on 16 March 1806 in Westminster, Massachusetts, the 9th child and fifth daughter of Benjamin and Martha (Whitney) Seaver.  She died on 18 September 1825 in Westminster at age 19.  Her father, Benjamin Seaver (1757-1816) died intestate in 1816 and left a large estate to his wife and children.  Heman Ray was appointed Guardian of Rosilla when her father died, and her share of Benjamin's estate was $454.50 plus interest from 18 January 1818.  The inventory of Rosilla's personal estate as $21.78,

Apparently, Rosilla was feebleminded and lived with her mother after her father died.  Four men testified to the Court that $25 per year was a reasonable amount to be paid to her mother.  After funeral charges, debts and fees were accounted for, the balance in the administrator's account was $229.28.  The Court ordered that her 9 brothers an sisters, or their representatives, be awarded $25.47 in equal shares.

This inventory and administrator's account occurred because Rosilla inherited a significant amount of money from her father's intestate estate.  Her personal property list, included clothing, a trunk, and shoes, may be typical for a 19 year old girl in 1825.

Relief Seaver (1774-1795) is my 3rd great-grandaunt.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 4th great-grandfather Benjamin Seaver (1757-1816).

NOTE: Genea-blogger John Newmark (who writes the excellent TransylvanianDutch blog) started a Monday blog theme years ago called "Amanuensis Monday." John offers this definition for "amanuensis:"

"A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another."
