Fred Jay Seaver (1877-1970) was born 14 March 1877 in Webster County, Iowa, the son of Joshua Marshall and Gulielma Maria "Elma" (Sturtevant) Seaver.  He died 21 December 1970 in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He married (1) Hortense Adelaide Shuebly (1877-1940) on 19 June 1905 in Manson, Iowa.  They had two children:

*  Bernice Seaver (1906-1989), married Woodrow Franklin Blackmon (1915-1994).
*  Hortense Eloise Seaver (1908-1978), married 1033 Albert Cullen Hewitt (1904-1999).

Fred married (2) Finetta Alice Fry (1881-1964) on 23 September 1941 in White Plains, New York.  They had no children.

Fred Jay Seaver is my 7th cousin 2 times removed.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person was a world famous botanist. I am glad that I can honor Fred Jay Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
