Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1661/2 Birth of Rebecca Rolfe (1662-1751) in Newbury, Massachusetts

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1661/2 birth record of Rebecca Rolfe in Newbury, Massachusetts Bay:

The birth record is on the left-hand page near the end of the 1661 listing:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"Rebecca y'e daughter of John Rolfe was born February 9th"

The source citation for this birth record is:

"Massachusetts, U.S., Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988," indexed database and digital images, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), Newbury > Births, Marriages, and Deaths > image 680 of 2384, Rebecca Rolfe birth entry, 9 February 1661/2; citing original data from Massachusetts town and city clerk records in Jay and Delene Holbrook, Massachusetts Vital and Town Records (Provo, Utah : Holbrook Research Institute), Microfiche collection.

This record is perhaps an Original Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Rebecca Rolfe, daughter of John [and Mary (Scullard)] Rolfe in Newbury, Massachusetts.  Note that the date is surely 9 February 1661/2 since it's at the end of the 1661 listings.

Rebecca Rolfe (1662-1751) was born 9 February 1661/2 to John and Mary (Scullard) Rolfe in Newbury, Massachusetts.  She married (1) William Cutter (1649-1723) in about 1679 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Richard and Elizabeth (--?--) Cutter.  They had ten children.  Rebecca married (2) to John Whitmore (1654-1739) on 3 June 1724 in Cambridge.  They had no children.

William and Rebecca (Rolfe) Cutter are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son Richard Cutter (1682-1756) who married Mercy Kelsey (1698-1760) in about 1722 in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
