Seavers in the News -- Mrs. Rosaleen Seaver Dies in 1975 in Overland Park, Kansas

 Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Kansas City [Mo.] Times newspaper dated 23 July 1975, page 10:

The transcription of the article is:

"Mrs. Rosaleen Seaver

"Mrs. Rosaleen Seaver, 600 Admiral, former chairman of the home economics department of Southwest Missouri State University, died Sunday in Overland Park.

She was born in Kirwin, Kan. and had lived in this area since 1951.

"She was graduated from Kansas State University, Manhattan.  She was a member of the American Association of University Professors, the University Women's Club and the Women's City Club.  She was a member of the American Home Economists Association. 

"Mrs. Seaver was a member of the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.

"Burial was in Mount Moriah Cemetery.  The family suggests contributions to the church."

This obituary provides the name, residence, birthplace, church affiliation, occupation, education, associations, and funeral and burial information.  It does not provide age, birth date, parents, spouse, or children names, or cause of death.

Maude Rosaleen Greub (1888-1975) was born 1 May 1888 in Kirwin, Kansas.  She died 20 July 1975 in Overland Park, Kansas.  She married Arthur Twining Seaver (1867-1956) on 24 December 1950 in Kansas.  They had no children.

I am a 5th cousin 3 times removed to her husband, Arthur Twining Seaver.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 7th great-grandfather  Joseph Seaver (1672-1754).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has an obituary that does not list any family members.  I am glad that I can honor Maude Rosaleen (Greub) Seaver today.
