Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Which Ancestor Married the Most Times?

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.

1)   Which ancestor of yours married the most times?  [This may be interesting for some geneabloggers!]

2)  Share about which ancestors married the most times in your own blog post or on your Facebook page.  Be sure to leave a link to your report in a comment on this post.

[thank you to Linda Stufflebean for suggesting this topic!]

Here's mine:

I know that the most recent ancestor that married three times is my 2nd great-grandfather, Isaac Seaver (1823-1901), who married Juliet Glazier (1826-1847) in 1846; Lucretia Townsend Smith (1828-1884) in 1851; and Alvina Matilda (Bradley) Lewis (1848-1923) in 1888.

I know that I have several other ancestors who married at least three times, but it's a search for a needle in a haystack.

I was unable to find this capability in RootsMagic, Legacy Family Tree, and Family Tree Maker desktop software (although maybe I missed the way to do it).

I recalled that MyHeritage has a "Family Statistics" section (under "Home") and I was able to see on the "Marriages" page:

Aha!  My 9th great-grandfather William Healey (1613-1683) had 5 marriages - to Grace Ives (1620-1649) in 1644 (3 children); to Mary Rogers (1628-1651) in 1650 (2 children); to Grace Butterice (1630-1660) in 1653 (4 children); to Phebe Green (1628-1677) in 1661 (3 children); and to Sarah Cutting (1629-1699) in 1677 (0 children).  Phebe Green is the mother of my 8th great-grandfather Samuel Healey (1662-1732).

The chart above shows Grissel Fletcher (Jewell) was married 5 times.  She was, but is not one of my ancestors.  She was a sister of one of my Fletcher ancestors.

So the answer is William Healey (1613-1683) married 5 times.  12 children with four wives.  The first ones had 4 step-mothers!

Great topic! And impressive that you found 5 marriages...the most in my family tree is hubby's 3 marriages--I think :)
