Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

Mrs. G. Arthur (nee Nellie Fischer) Seaver, on Saturday, August 12, 1978, at 3:40 o'clock a.m., at Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocean Springs, Mississippi; wife of the late George Arthur Seaver, mother of Mrs. Gelon Hann Doswell of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, John Wyman Seaver of Atlanta, Georgia, and the late George Arthur Seaver Jr. of New Orleans, La., sister of Mrs. W.D. Hays of New York, Miss Elizabeth Fischer of Portland, Oregon, Miss Grace Fischer of Portland, Oregon, and the late Mrs. James Routh of Atlanta, Georgia, and Frederick Hall Fischer of New Orleans, La, also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, New Orleans, La.

This obituary provides the name, age, residence, death date and place, relatives names, associations, funeral service and burial information.
Nellie J. (Fischer) Seaver was born 11 September 1891 in Louisiana, the daughter Conrad Beauregard and Cornelia Elizabeth (Hoey) Fischer. She married George Arthur Seaver (1886-1945) on 9 June 1921 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nellie died on 12 August 1978 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. They had three children:
* Elizabeth Fischer Seaver (1922-1989), married 1942 Gelon Hann Doswell (1920-1992).
* George Arthur Seaver Jr. (1923-1967), married 1944 Kathleen Ellis (1925-2008).
* John Wyman Seaver (1928-2008), married E. Marjorie Adams (1922-2014).
I am a 7th cousin 3 times removed of George Arthur Seaver (1886-1945). Our common Seaver ancestor is our 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683) who settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.
There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this is one of them. Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person had an extensive family. I am glad that I can honor Nellie J. (Fischer) Seaver (1891-1978) today.
