Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 320: 1790 U.S. Census Record for Jonathan White in Westport, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1790 U.S. Census record for Jonathan White enumerated in Westport, Massachusetts:

The Jonathan White enumeration (near the bottom of the right-hand column):

The data extracted from this record for the Jonathan White household is:

*  one male over age 16 (probably Jonathan)
*  one male under age 16 (probably son Jonathan, born 1778)
*  two females (probably wife Abigail and daughter Hannah)

The source citation for this record is:

1790 United States Federal Census, Bristol county, Massachusetts, population schedule, Westport, page 702 (penned), Jonathan White household, digital image, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 16 May 2013); citing National Archives Microfilm Publication M637, Roll 4.

While this census record does not name all of the occupants of the Jonathan White household, it is helpful in placing Jonathan White in the vicinity of those listed above and below his entry.  There are several other White households - Holder White is Jonathan's son; Obed White and Silvanus White are Jonathan's cousins.  Other familiar surnames on this page are Kirby (Kurbee), Brownell, Cornell, Tripp, Sowle, etc.

Jonathan White (1732-1804) is my 5th great-grandfather, who married Abigail Wing (1734-1806) in 1756.  I am descended through their son Humphrey White (1757-1814) who married Sibel Kirby (1764-1848).
