Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 23 March 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Watched the Saturday keynote session from RootsTech, and two of the videoed classes.  Watched several YouTube videos too.

2)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt on Zoom.  We discussed the GeneaWebinars schedule, Pat Kuhn's same name problem, the Salt Lake City earthquake, WikiTree, new online collections, the Johnson Utah ghost town, our 50th wedding anniversary, how I add DNA matches to my tree, and the daily Mini-Myrt sessions starting at 12 EDT daily.

3)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #533 Huldah (Blodgett) Reed (1689-1777) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Added Notes to about 15 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added four ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

6)  Worked a whole afternoon on my Richman families in Wiltshire, extending the cousin lines a bit using all of the resources.  Added names, relationships, events, dates and places based on the available records on Ancestry, Findmypast, FamilySearch and MyHeritage to the RootsMagic tree.  Also worked on a Whittle line from an email correspondent.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 34,703 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 99).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 56,551 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 118) , and 117,671 source citations (up 357).   I TreeShared two times this week updating 253 profiles, and I resolved 623 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 126,093 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

9)  Wrote 20 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Dear Randy: What Do You Add To Your Family Tree For DNA Matches?   with over 308 views.

10)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much.  We went to Costco on Thursday and I went to the grocery store on Friday.  We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, 21 March.  Tami came down to take photos, provide champagne, provide gloves and masks, make dinner, serve it, and clean up.  We enjoyed the visit but wish the grandkids had been able to come.
