4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

The identity of Mehitable, the wife of Nathaniel Guild (1679-1774), was postulated in the Cutter book to be "Mehitable Farrington, or Hartshorn.[1]"

Halsey Bullen, in the profile for Mehitable (Hartshorn) Guild on WikiTree (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hartshorn-675), discusses the Farrington parentage issue.  In the 1721 probate record list of heirs of John Farrington, Mehitable Guild does not appear on the list of heirs.  John and Mary (Janes) Farrington did have a daughter Mehitable born in 1693 in Dedham, Massachusetts, but she would have been only 14 when a daughter Mehitable Guild was born in 1708.

Mehitable Hartshorn was born in about 1683 (age 88 at death), probably in Reading, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Sarah (Burt) Hartshorn, the 4th of 11 children[2].  Her birth record is not in the Reading vital record book.  The Hartshorn family moved to Dedham and settled in what is now Walpole, which was in Dedham bounds, in about 1693[2].

Mehitable married Nathaniel Guild (1679-1774) of Dedham before 1708, but the marriage was not recorded in the Dedham records[1-2,4].  They had ten children, which were all recorded in the Dedham town and church records[4]:

*  Mehitable Guild (1708-1798), married 1726 Jacob Ellis (1703-1752).
*  Mary Guild (1709-1751), married 1727 John Morse (1703-1750).
*  Nathaniel Guild (1712-1796), married 1733 Mary Boyden (1708-1776).
*  Susanna Guild (1713-1714).
*  Susanna Guild (1717-1742), married 1735 Jacob Hart (1710-1783).
*  Samuel Guild (1719-1743).
*  Rebecca Guild (1721-1793), married 1742 Samuel Cony (1718-1779).
*  Sarah Guild (1723-????), married 1748 Jonathan Billings (1725-1789).
*  Moses Guild (1725-1789), married 1753 Rhoda Mason (1735-1797).
*  Aaron Guild (1728-1818), married 1756 Anna Coney (1728-1776).

Her father, Joseph Hartshorn, died in 1727, but left no probate record that might name heirs, and no land deeds that name his son-in-law Nathaniel Guild or daughter Mehitable Guild.

Mehitable Guild was a Midwife for many years according to her death record[3].

Mehitable (Hartshorn) Guild died at age 88 on 10 February 1771 in Dedham, Massachusetts[1-4].  The death is recorded in the Dedham church records as:

"Feb. 10, 1771.  Died, Mehitabel Guild (wife of Nath'l Guild), aged 88 years, who had for many years been a midwife."

There is no known burial location or Find A Grave memorial for Mehitable (Hartshorn) Guild.
