Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1658 Birth of 7th Great-Grandfather John Ston[e] in Watertown, Massachusetts

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1658 birth entry for John Ston[e] in the Watertown, Massachusetts town and vital vital record book:

The birth entry is the 1oth one down the list for 1658 in the left-hand column:

The birth record transcription for John "Ston" is:

"John Ston Sonn of Simon & Mary Stonn borne the 23 of July [1658]""

The source citation for this record is:

"Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988," indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com, accessed 19 May 2021), Watertown > Births, Marriages, Deaths, page 42 (image 1240 of 3991), John Ston[e] birth entry, 23 July 1658 to Simon and Mary Stonn.

This is an entry in a transcribed town record book for Watertown, Massachusetts, copied in 1648, so it is a Derivative Source with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of John Ston[e] and his parents first names.  The record was indexed on Ancestry.com as "John Donn" for some reason.

John Stone (1658-1735) was the son of Simon and Mary (Whipple) Stone of Watertown.  He married Sarah Nutting (1663-?????), daughter of John and Sarah (Eggleton) Nutting, on 16 December 1698 in Concord, Massachusetts as her second husband.  John and Sarah (Nutting) Stone had two children.

John and Sarah (Nutting) Stone are my 7th great-grandparents, through their son James Stone (1702-1783), who married  Mary Farwell (1709-1804) in 1726 in Groton, Massachusetts.
