Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 3 to 9 April 2022

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  1860s Travel Times on the Routes to San Francisco CA by Bill Dollarhide on GenealogyBlog.

*  Obsessed with New FamilySearch Get Involved App by Amie Bowser Tennant on The Genealogy Reporter.

April 2022 Genealogy Blog Party: Tips for Successful Research in the 1950S & Beyond by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Marriage Puzzle by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  5 Websites Professional Genealogists Use To Research Ancestors for Free by Lisa Lisson on Are You My Cousin?

What a Mess by Tony Proctor on Parallax View.

*  1950 US Census: Check Out Family Members in NARA's Index by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

*  Technological Advances in Genealogy by Gretchen Jorgensen on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

The Stories in the Census by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 8th April 2022 by Crissouli on That Moment in Time.

* This Week's Creme de la Creme - April 9, 2022  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thanks for the mention this week, Randy. I hope the tips help others find their modern day families.
