Ancestry Releases an Early Version of the 1950 U.S. Census Index

The Ancestry Facebook group had this announcement this morning:

The early version of the searchable 1950 Census index is available for free! That means anyone can access these records. We encourage everyone to explore this early version of the index, and learn more at https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/62308/.
Be sure to head to our Youtube channel for a live session with Crista Cowan as she discusses all things 1950 Census!
Let us know what you discover as you explore the 1950 US Census.

The YouTube video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UEVz6W_Sg8.

This is the Ancestry AI version of the index - different from the NARA index.

My 1950 census searches today showed there are 2,227 exact Seaver last name entries.  Unfortunately, one of them was not me.  I did find me using the surname Seaner, which was also how the NARA index interpreted the handwriting.

There I am, right at the top of the list.  Now I can search for the folks on my target list that I couldn't find!

Disclosure: I receive a complimentary all-access subscription from Ancestry.com, for which I am thankful. Ancestry.com has provided material considerations for travel expenses to meetings, and has hosted events and meals that I have attended in Salt Lake City, in past years.
