Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 5 September 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista General Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom to about 60 attendees.  Melissa Barker was the speaker on  "10 Things Genealogists Should Do Before Leaving a Library or Archives."

2)  Watched the San Diego Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group meeting on Saturday on Zoom.  Colin Whitney presented his "Ancestry.com Update 2022."

3)  Added three Events, including Zoom links, to the CVGS website on Wild Apricot.  Also downloaded some of the file folders on Gary's OneDrive to the CVGS Google Drive account.

4)  Worked on sorting out which Samuel Buck of Sutton, Massachusetts was the man who named three children in his 1760 will.  Made a list of candidate Samuel Bucks in or around Sutton from Worcester County Deeds on FamilySearch.  Reviewed about 10 of them, and found the first Samuel of Sutton was a cordwainer.  I need to do a list for Middlesex County too.

5)  Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandmother  #715 Rachel (--?--) Allen (c1678-c1721) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

6) Transcribed a probate record document - 1876 Guardian's Petition for Annie Isabel Seaver (1857-1895) of Worcester County, Massachusetts  - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

7)  Wrote down my struggles with uploading my RootsMagic tree to a new Ancestry Member Tree in  Rabbit Holes With Randy - TreeSharing My RootsMagic File With a New Ancestry Member Tree (Major Arrrgh!) and I'm still working on the last details.

8) AncestryDNA now has 40,833 DNA matches (up 33 from 29 August) for me today, with no new ThruLines.  MyHeritageDNA now has 10,680 DNA matches (up 25 from 29 August) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added notes to 0 AncestryDNA matches.

9)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,348 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 0).

10) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,953 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 20 from 22 August), and 145,354  source citations (up 19). I TreeShared 57 new or modified profiles with my new Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 562  Ancestry Hints. My new Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,267 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,340 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.

11) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Rabbit Holes With Randy - TreeSharing My RootsMagic File With a New Ancestry Member Tree (Major Arrrgh!) with over 165 views.

12)  Real life:  This is week 130 since COVID restrictions.  My recovery from the 30 May heart bypass surgery is (I hope)  complete.  I am still really tired every day, take at least two naps each day, and try to walk for 30 minutes every day on the block. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her six times last week.   I went shopping on Monday and Friday.   I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 74-61 on the season (4-2 last week).  It's been hot here (95F plus in the day, and 80-85F overnight).  I got my Weather Station set up.
