Seavers in the News -- Seph H. Seaver Dies in 1969 in Florida

 Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Tampa [Fla.] Tribune newspaper dated 14 May 1969, page 39:

The transcription of the article is:

"SEPH H. SEAVER

"LAKELAND -- Seph H. Seaver, 82, of 1040 W. Sycamore St., died Monday.  A native of New York State, he had lived here since 1956, was a retired carpenter and a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Anna Seaver; three daughters, Mrs. Markus Thomas of Lakeland; Mrs. Fred Klein nd Mrs. Francis Gilbert of Baldwinsville, N.Y."

The source citation is:

"Seph H. Seaver," The Tampa [Fla.] Tribune, Wednesday, 14 May 1969, page 39, column 4, Seph H. Seaver obituary; Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 20 November 2022).

This obituary identifies his name, age, day of death, occupation, church affiliation, his wife's name and his daughters' names.  There is no birth date or location, no parent's names, and no cause of death information.

The obituary uses the first name "Seph" although his first name was "Seth."  Another obituary published in Tully, New York uses the first name "Seth."

Seth Harrington Seaver (1886-1969) was born 9 October 1886 in Lafayette, New York, the son of Samuel Ross and Frances H. (Mitchell) Seaver.  He married Anna Anna Christina Wilson (1886-1976) on 31 December 1908, probably in Onondaga County, New York.  They had five children, but only three living in 1969:

*  Wilson Ross Seaver (1909-1931).
*  Seth Harvie Seaver (1911-1914).
*  Marian Elizabeth Seaver (1913-2001), married 1934 Frederick William Klein (1908-????).
*  Frances Ethel Seaver (195-2014), married 1966 Marcus Frederick Thomas (1912-1991).
*  Eleanor Annette Seaver (1920-2006), married Francis Gilbert (1919-1968).

Seth Harrington Seaver is my fifth cousin three removed.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 7th great-grandfather Joseph Seaver (1672-1754).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a very short obituary.  I am glad that I can honor Seth Harrington Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
