Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Pretend You Are a Time Traveler

  It's Saturday Night -

Time For More

Genealogy Fun!

Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to:

A)  Genea-Blogger Linda Stufflebean noted that December 8th is "Pretend You Are a Time Traveler Day."  Today's challenge is:  Where would you go? Would you choose a person, place or event in the past or travel into the future? Would you remain an observer or would you actively participate?" Linda suggested this challenge.

B)  Please share it in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a Facebook post.

Here's mine:

I have a number of ancestors who are not known to me yet.  For this challenge, I'm going to choose going to Prince Edward County, Ontario for the marriage of my 3rd great-grandparents, Abraham Kemp and Sarah Fletcher on 16 April 1818.   I don't know the parentage of Sarah Fletcher, but suspect that she has Quebec ancestors and perhaps Metis ancestry.

I would probably observe this event, and would be really interested in Sarah's family - her parents, her siblings, her friends.  If necessary, I would actively participate to ask questions about Sarah's close family - parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.

I have several more mystery ancestors.  Perhaps we can do this challenge again in the future.  My other mystery candidates are:

*  The parents of Devier James Lanphear Smith (1839-1894) who was adopted by Ranslow and Mary (Bell) Smith, probably in Jefferson County, New York in about 1840.  He has Lanphear/Lanfear ancestry, probably in Lorraine, New York.  He was probably born out of wedlock, and his mother or father was a Lanfear, probably a child of Isaac and Rosina (Laun) Lanfear of Lorraine.

*  The wife of my 3rd great-grandfather, Cornelius Feather (1777-1853) of eastern Ohio and then Mercer County, Pennsylvania.  He married his wife (perhaps a1785-a1830) in about 1804, because their first child, my 3rd great-grandmother Sarah Feather was born in about 1804.

*  The parents and siblings of my 3rd great-grandfather William Knapp (1775-1856), perhaps born in Dutchess County, New York and ended up in Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey.

*  The parents and siblings of my 4th great-grandmother Mary Palmer (a1790-1845) of Martock (?) or South Petherton, Somerset, England who married James Vaux in 1808 in South Petherton.

*  There many others!

I have many I'd like to visit in the past. Here is one I'm currently working on. When do we leave?
