Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1673 Birth Record of Mehittabel Garnsey in Milton, Massachusetts

It's time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1673 birth record of Mehittabel Garnsey in Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts:

The birth record is the first record of the Garnsey section:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"GARNSEY, Mehittabel, Dau. of John,  Nov. 2, 1673"

The source citation for this record is:

Peter Thacher and Hannah Vose, Milton records : births, marriages and deaths, 1662-1843 (Boston, Mass. : A. Mudge & Son, 1900), Births, page 27, Mehittabel Garnsey entry, 2 November 1673; indexed database with images, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com).

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Mehitable Garnsey.  The original record is probably in a Milton town record book that is not extant.

Mehittabel Garnsey (1673-1742) was born 2 November 1673 in Milton, Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (--?--) Garnsey.  She married John Horton (1672-1752), the son of Thomas and Sarah (--?--) Horton in about 1690 in Milton.  They had seven children.

John and Mehitable (Garnsey) Horton are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son John Horton (1696-1796), who married Mary Chase (1695-1734) in 1719 in Swansea, Massachusetts.
