Seeing Rhinos at the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park in 2007 -- Post 745 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! These are some of my favorite photographs:

As San Diego County residents, we are blessed to have the San Diego Zoo (in Balboa Park) and the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park (on highway 78, east of Escondido).  We had Zoo memberships for many decades, until recently.

In April 2007, Linda and I visited the Wild Animal Park without any of our grandkids, and we paid extra for the "Plains of Africa" tour in the park.  On this tour, the passenger truck gives us access to the heads of the rhinos.  We were able to pet them and feed them.

My favorite animals at the Wild Animal Park were the tigers, lions and cheetahs, but you have to walk to their display areas.  The lions have a big glass window at the back of their lair and you can get really close to them safely.

This is all part of our family history!
