Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 18 to 24 June 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Identifying False Shared DNA Segments by Jim Bartlett on Segment-ology.

*  6 Steps for Applying the Scientific Method to Genetic Genealogy by Robert  Stieglitz on Family Tree Magazine.

*  MyHeritage’s App – Reimagine by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  Questions by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  I Finally Found Ellen or, Transcribers Don't Get the Last Word by Ellie on Ellie's Ancestors.

*  My re-tooled DNA Tools page by Jonny Perl on DNA Painter Blog.

*  How I use AI in my work by Yvette Hoitink on Dutch Genealogy.

*  The End of GenSoftReviews by Louis Kessler on Behold Genealogy.

*  Checking in: A Few Thoughts on Various Genealogy Topics by Marie Cooke Beckman on MarieB's Genealogy Blog.

*  What Did Mom Know About Family History? by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

*  Invitation to Connect by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*  How to Unmerge People of the Same Name on the FamilySearch Family Tree by Nicole Dyer on Family Locket.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

* Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

* Friday Fossicking 23rd June 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

* This Week's Creme de la Creme - June 24, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy, thanks for sharing my post today! I'm hoping this signals a new development in families sharing in learning more about their own family history.
