Seavers in the News -- William Seaver Dies in Woodstock, Vermont in 1974

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Valley News [ West Lebanon, N.H.] newspaper dated 3 October 1974, page 10:

The transcription of the article is:

"William Seaver

"WOODSTOCK -- Services for William Seaver, 58, who died Friday in Bridgeport, Conn. were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at graveside in Taftsville Cemetery.

"Born here Aug. 26, 1916, son of William and Beulah (Hall) Seaver, he graduated from Woodstock High School in 1934.  He was employed by the Woodstock Inn Garage, A&B Motors, and recently Chan Vought Aircraft Co. in Bridgeport, Conn.

"Survivors are two sons, Gary Seaver of Los Angeles and Paul Seaver of Woodstock; his mother at the Brookside Nursing Home in Hartford; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Page of Brattleboro, and four grandchildren.

"The Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock handled arrangements."

This obituary identifies his death date and place, birth date and place, parents names, childrens names and residences, and sibling name, employment, but no associations.

William Hosmer Seaver (1916-1974) was born 28 August 1916 in Woodstock, Vermont, the son of William Harold and Beulah Gertrude (Hall) Seaver.  He died  27 September 1974 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  He married Mary Elizabeth Nevin (1921-2006) on 29 March 1947 in Tucson, Arizona.  They had two children - Gary and Paul.

William Hosmer Seaver (1916-1974) is my 7th cousin two times removed, with the common Seaver ancestor of my 8th great-grandfather, Shubael Seaver (1640-1730).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person dies unexpectedly in a distant place.  I am glad that I can honor William Hosmer Seaver today.  

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
