Best of the Genea-Blogs - 23 to 29 July 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Genealogy Tips: Researching Your Revolutionary War Ancestors by Katie Rebecca Garner on GenealogyBank Blog.

*  My Wish Has Come True For An Every Name Index to Deeds at FamilySearch! by Annette Kapple on AK's Genealogy Research.

*  How to Share Documents and Citations Within Your Family Tree by DiAnn Iamarino Ohana on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  Uncovering Stories of People in Poverty by Melanie McComb on Vita Brevis.

*  What is a Descendant? by Mercedes Brons on Who Are You Made Of?

*  Using Websites’ Catalogs: Findmypast and other sites by Cari Taplin on Genealogy Pants.

*  When Grandpa Teddy Made News in 1937 by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

*  Gateway Ancestors Leading to Royal and Noble Lines by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

*  Were Ancestors Native American? by Kathleen Brandt on a3Genealogy.

*  When Did You Start Doing Genealogy? and Why? by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  Friday Find by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  Getting a Good Look at the Godparents by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*  Fact Check: The Misunderstood Centimorgan by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 28th July 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - July 29, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
