Best of the Genea-Blogs - 22 to 28 October 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Is Updating the GEDCOM Standard Necessary? by Louis Kessler on Behold Genealogy.

*  Using FindMyPast’s new Advanced Search for Newspapers… by Teresa on Writing My Past.

*  A Genealogist’s Guide to Artificial Intelligence by Thomas MacEntee on Family Tree Magazine.

*  6 Best Ways to NOT FIND Your Ancestors by Kenneth Marks on The Ancestor Hunt.

*  Make an Easy Ancestral Map for the Cousins by DiAnn Iamarino Ohana on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  The 23andMe Data Exposure – New Info, Considerations and A Pause Strategy by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

*  Using Artificial Intelligence in Genealogy by Dana Leeds on Dana Leeds.

*   Cluster Research in the Revolutionary War Pension Files by Marie Cooke Beckman on MarieB's Genealogy Blog - Southeastern USA.

*  Seventy Four Point Five by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek.

*  Saving Your Genealogy FOREVER – Step Four by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  I See Dead People! Amazing Ways to Use Death Records for Family History Research by Thomas MacEntee on MyHeritage Blog.

*  Creating bio sketches about your ancestors by Maria Tello on Janine Adams' Organizing Your Family History.

*  County Records by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 27th Oct 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - October 28, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
