Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 1 to 7 October 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Ancestry Updates: New AI Features for Your Family Tree and DNA! by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes In Your Family.

*  How Can You Build Your Family Tree? We're Talking Practice! by DiAnn Iamarino Ohana on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  A Brief History of RootsTech from a very personal perspective by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

Using DNAPainter for analysis of a Mystery DNA Group by Marie Cooke Beckman on MarieB's Genealogy Blog - Southeastern USA.

*  Finding An Ancestor's Land On A Map/ a challenging process by Annette Kapple on AK's Genealogy Research.

*  New Englanders in the 1600s by Martin E. Hollick: Book Review by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Genealogy Myths Debunked: Fact or Fiction by Maddy on Family Wise.

*  7 Ways to Share Family History with Your Grandchildren on Family Tree Genealogists.

*  Adopted Ancestor? Here’s How to Find Their Biological Family by Patricia Hartley on Family History Daily.

*  23andMe User Accounts Exposed – Change Your Password Now by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 6th Oct 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - October 7, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thank you for including my book review in your Best of this week. Martin Hollick has provided New England researchers with a much needed update on family history articles.
