Seavers in the News -- Obituary of Mrs. Hugh L. Seaver (1893-1977) of Randolph, Vermont

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Times Argus [Barre-Montpelier, Vt] newspaper dated 21 November 1977, page 13:

This obituary provides the name, parents names, husband's name, children and sibling names, death day, death place, occupation, work experience, burial place, and services, but not birth date, age, or cause of death.

Ethel Pearl Rye (1893-1977) was born 11 February 1893 in Swanton, Vermont, the daughter of Edward P. and Julia (Dukette) Rye.  She died 20 November 1977 in Randolph, Vermont.  Ethel married Hugh Leland Seaver (1897-1979) on 27 July 1918 in Randolph, Vermont.  They had two children:

*  Lillian Ethel Seaver (1920-1998), married 1944 John Bradford Nash (1917-2005).
*  Edward Carl Seaver (1922-1983), married 1946 Helen Virginia Scott (1922-2020).

I am an 8th cousin twice removed to Hugh Leland Seaver (1897-1979) with the common Seaver ancestor being Robert Seaver (1608-1683)..

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this is one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a fairly complete obituary.  I am glad that I can honor Ethel Pearl (Rye) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
