Jefts } Know all Men by these Presents ,
to } That I Robert Jefts of Mason in the County
Sawtell } Hillsborough & State of New Hampshire
Yeoman in consideration of twenty five Dollars to me
paid by Josiah Sawtell of said Mason Gentleman
the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge , have
given , granted , bargained , sold and conveyed , and
do , for myself and my heirs by these Presents give
grant , bargain , sell and convey unto the said
Sawtell his heirs and Assigns forever , a certain piece
of land situated in said Mason and bounded as follows - Beginning at the north east corner
of the premises on the road leading to Ashby
thence westwardly on land of Willis Johnson
about twenty four rods to land of Hollis Amsden
thence Southerly on said Amsdens land about
six rods to a Stake and Stones thence eastwardly on
my land to the road before mentioned thence
thence northerly on said road to the bound first mentioned --
To Have and to Hold the afore described premises
with all the Privileges and Appurtenances thereunto
belonging to him the said Josiah Sawtell his
heirs and Assigns to his & their use and behoof forever
and I do covenant with the said Sawtell his
Heirs and Assigns that I am lawfully seized
in fee of the afore described premises , That
they are free of all incumbrances ; that I have
good right to sell and convey the same to the
Said Sawtell in manner aforesaid . And that

I and my heirs will warrant and defend the Same
Premises to the Said Sawtell his heirs and Assigns
forever , against the lawful claims and demands of
all persons , And I Sarah wife of the Said Robert
Jefts hereby release and quitclaim unto the said
Sawtell my right of Dower in the fore described
premises - In Witness whereof we the Said Robert
Jefts and Sarah Jefts have hereunto set our
Hands and Seals this fourth day of May in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
twenty six - Signed , Sealed and delivered in

This is a Derivative Source (because it is a court clerk's transcription of the original deed with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the names of the two parties, and the dates of the deed execution, signing and recording.
Josiah Sawtell (1768-1847) was born 24 January 1768 in Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of Ephraim and Abigail (Stone) Sawtell. He married Hannah Smith (1768-1827) on 5 October 1789 in Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Josiah died 7 December 1847 in Townsend, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. They had nine children.
Josiah and Hannah (Smith) Sawtell are my 4th great-grandparents, through their daughter Hannah Sawtell (1789-1857) who married Zachariah Hildreth (1784-1857) in 1810 in Townsend, Massachuseetts.
