Announcing the "Practical Genealogy" Book Winner -- It Is ...

I wrote a book review for Practical Genealogy by Brian Sheffey on 20 April and  announced a contest for a free copy of the book.  I promoted the book and my contest on Facebook and Twitter, but I don't get many social media comments or likes on many of my posts.

The deadline for entries was Friday, 1 May, and, frankly, I forgot about it until today.  There were 10 submissions that followed the rules (and everybody followed the rules)!

I used www.Random.org to pick a number between 1 and 10:
Number 7 won the book, and that is --- ta-da:

MARY HERZOG

In her submission, Mary wrote:

"I have long been a subscriber to your blog and always enjoy your down to earth and practical approach to genealogy. I would like receive the Brian Sheffey book as it sounds like a great resource for the classes I teach for beginners in genealogical research at the Napa Valley Genealogical Society. My intention would be to donate it to our library so that it would be available to all our patrons."

Congratulations to Mary, and thank you to Brian Sheffey and his publisher for permitting me to run this contest.  Thank you to all of those that took the time to enter the contest.

I hope that Mary, and many more of my readers, enjoy reading and using this book.
