Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 4 May 2020

May the Fourth be with all of my readers!

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Presented "Discovering George W. Seaver's Life Story on Wednesday, 29 April to CVGS members and several others viz a Zoom Meeting  This went well,  we had 19 attendees, and more members tried Zoom.

2)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt on Zoom.  We discussed genealogy blogs and websites, Bible records, the Open Live Writer for WordPress, the free Ancestry.co.uk records, VE day and the Netherlands American Cemetery, the neighbors with Norway ancestors, the handwriting transcription website Transkribus.eu, the "Where I'm From" poem, and Penny Walters' books.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #539 Sarah (Grande) Allen  (1691-1723) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed the 1699 Will of Samuel Walker (1643-1704) of Woburn, Mass. for    Amanuensis Monday.

6)  Collected more Seaver church and civil (birth, marriage and death) records on Ireland collections at https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Also found several English Seaver/s families in church and civil records on Ancestry.com and added them to my RootsMagic tree.

7)  Added Notes to about 10 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors.  Added two AncestryDNA ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 35,490 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 108).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 57,279 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 147) , and 119,699 source citations (up 379).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree two times this week updating 349 profiles, and I resolved 729 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 129,379 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Dear Randy: "Why Do You Add Alternate Names To Your Family Tree?"  with over 283 views.

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much.  I went to the grocery store on Tuesday and Friday and it wasn't too busy.  We went out to dinner last Monday at In 'n' Out, waiting 30 minutes in line to order from the car.  We went for a ride to Coronado up the strand and across the bridge on Saturday for an outing, and stopped at Dollar Tree on the way home.  I took Linda for a wheelchair ride around the neighborhood in the sun on Sunday.  I watched the church choir and pastor's sermon on YouTube on Sunday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy.
